
Environmental Research Center holds a workshop on green growth towards sustainable development

In compliance with the directives of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on the World Tree Planting Day, which falls on October 1st, under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, a number of university departments have launched a wide-ranging tree planting campaign that included all university corridors, supervised by Prof. Dr. Farhad Mohammed Othman, Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, in cooperation with the Agricultural Division in the Diwan Affairs Department at the university, with the participation of a number of heads of scientific and engineering departments.


The President of the University of Technology said at the beginning of the campaign that the World Tree Planting Day is an important occasion for planting trees due to their importance in raising awareness to preserve the environment, stressing the university’s commitment to the Prime Minister’s directives to plant all areas of the university. He added that any plants that exceed the university’s need will be donated to orphanages and other state institutions based on the principle of cooperation between institutions to promote a better healthy environmental reality. The cadres of the scientific and engineering departments in all their joints, in cooperation with the Agricultural Division in the Diwan Affairs Department, began planting trees and repairing some damaged areas in the spaces surrounding the departments’ building. This initiative comes within the department’s efforts to contribute to preserving the environment and enhancing environmental awareness in the university community, and reflects the department’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. It is worth noting that Tree Planting Day is an important occasion for planting trees and raising awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and biological diversity, and represents a valuable opportunity for community participation in efforts to improve the environment and reduce the effects of desertification and climate change.
