The Technological University Launches a Wide Tree Planting Campaign on National Tree Planting Day

Under the patronage of the President of the Technological University, Professor Dr. Mohsen Nuri Hamza, and with the participation of the University’s Vice Presidents for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Khawla Salah Khashan, and for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Farhad Mohammed Othman, the Technological University began a large-scale tree planting campaign on National Tree Planting Day. The campaign covered all green spaces within the university, under the supervision of the Agricultural Department and in the presence of the National Tree Planting Monitoring Committee for Universities affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Among those present were the Advisor for Provincial Affairs in the National Security Advisory Office, Mr. Issam Mustafa Al-Obaidi, former Member of Parliament Dr. Sabah Al-Tamimi, and several heads of engineering departments.

The campaign witnessed the planting of a large number of seedlings across all the green spaces of the university, with the participation of the engineering departments, research centers, the Registration Department, and the Agricultural Section in the Diwan Department, involving all of their staff and students.

The President of the Technological University emphasized that the university will continue to contribute to environmental preservation and the creation of a healthy climate as part of the sustainable development goals. He pointed out that the tree planting campaign will be ongoing and not limited to National Arbor Day only.

For his part, the Chairman of the National Tree Planting Monitoring Committee, Professor Dr. Nizar Kamil Ali, praised the excellent execution of the campaign, as it covered all the required aspects.

He noted that the Technological University has made significant progress compared to his previous visits. Additionally, the Director of the Agricultural Section at the Diwan Department of the Technological University, Sahar Jawad, explained that preparations for the tree planting campaign included holding several workshops and lectures related to the environment and tree planting, as well as providing pamphlets and organizing various activities.

This campaign is in line with the directives issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, which instructed all ministries and institutions, including the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to participate.
